If your one manicure rule is there are no rules, then the skittle nails trend is for you. In the simplest of terms, skittle nails, or a skittles manicure, is wearing different colors on different nails. They can match all the different hats you wear!

And just like there are different types of Skittles, there are many different ways to embrace this nail trend. It’s not all about the rainbow. Sorry ROYGBIV.

From neon ombré to shades of neutral, you can cover the whole nail, just the tip, or somewhere in between. If you’re unsure where to start, grab one of your favorite nail polish colors and then choose a couple shades warmer and a couple shades cooler. Just like a typical day in the Midwest!

16 Skittles Manicure Ideas

1. Rainbow Skittles Mani

Some may say this combination of matte and shiny with so many different colors is sensory overload. We say it finally appeases our desire to have it all. Except for a self-refilling coffee mug.

2. Earth-Inspired Skittles Manicure

This yellow to blue transition looks perfect for anyone with a yellow thumb. And look, we finally found all of our hair ties, too! Now who has our bobby pins?

3. Matte Pastel Rainbow Press On Nails

If you’d rather spend your time eating the rainbow than painting it, then lucky you – there’s press on nails for that. Now, if someone can please find a ladder tall enough to get to that rainbow? Or fork isn’t quite long enough.

4. Jewel-Toned Skittles Nail Tips

We personally love these jewel-toned French tips more than actual jewels. There’s less of a chance of pirates getting involved.

5. Purple Skittles Nail Art

A purple ombre nail look is the best way to include Pantone’s 2022 color of the year into your manicure routine. And, the best way to get brownie points on a date with Barney. Apparently cavemen really like purple!

6. Peachy Skittles Nail Design

They say if you clap your hands three times with this assortment of orange, yellow, and pink nail colors, peaches will fall out of the sky. And you’ll have a Justin Bieber song stuck in your head until they come off.

7. Sunset Skittles Nails

We spent so long mimicking these nails that we missed the sunset. But luckily, we hear they come around at least every other evening.

8. Neutral Skittles Manicure

Skittles candy may be bright, but neutrals still work spectacularly with this nail trend. Choose from browns and tans, blacks and greys, and whites and off-whites. Come check out our closet if you need more inspo!

9. Almond-Shaped Skittles Nails

Show off those gorgeous long nails with some bright almond-shaped nails featuring this trend. Thankfully, they don’t taste as bland as actual almonds. Or as sweet as actual Skittles. Not that we checked… Skittles Manicure - neon nails

10. Warm-Toned Bullseye Nails

These bullseye nails incorporate a double layer of the Skittles trend, with two tones per nail. It’s also a surefire way to get a job at Target or a spot on the Olympic archery team. You’d be surprised at that overlap!

11. Green Shades with Reverse Silver Tips

Take a classic French mani, flip it on it’s head, add some sparkle, and call it a day! Or, Wednesday. You can make your own rules.

12. Speckled Skittles Mani

This ombré speckled look has us ready for Easter. Hope no one mistakes our fingers for eggs again. We couldn’t find our thumb for hours!

13. Negative Space Neon Skittles Manicure

“Negative space side French neon nails” is a heck of a mouthful. But so is our Taco Bell order, and that has never stopped us.

14. Red & Pink Skittles Nails

Reds and pinks will always be popular nail polish colors. But change it up a little bit by combining them all. Spoiler: it makes more red.

15. Rainbow Stripes Skittles Nails

This may be Skittles-inspired nail art, but these vertical rainbow stripes remind us of those old-fashioned hard candy sticks. Remember those? Our dentist definitely does.

16. Lightning Bolt Skittles Manicure

Storms are cool because sometimes you get a rainbow afterwards. In this case, you get both! You can catch us giving the weather report on the 7PM news.
