Spongebob Popsicle Eyes No Gumball - popsicle

We hate to be the ones to break it to you, but the world is officially ending. No, this resolute statement has nothing to do with the fact that New York has turned orange and your favorite TV shows have ended. This is because the SpongeBob Popsicle eyes have been changed from the beloved gumballs to just…eyes.

If you think we’re being dramatic…you may be right. We did have a bit too much coffee and our nostalgia levels are running high today.

But to that we also say: just look at the new SpongeBob Popsicle version! The new chocolate eyes are sad. They’re soulless. And they definitely won’t break your teeth as we chomp into the soft ice cream. Okay, maybe Popsicle is on to something.

Needless to say, this shocking decision has caused a major uproar on the Internet. How dare Popsicle not check in with Twitter before stripping away this crucial part of society? And although most people feel that this is an attack on their childhood memories, some people think that the decision to remove the jaw-breaking gumballs actually makes some sense.

And some people….well, some people just don’t even care. We bet they’re the same who never voted on American Idol.

But for the people whose emotions are running high with this SpongeBob eyes decision, they took to the tweet streets to voice their opinions. Here are just a few of the reactions.
